Parenting - A Tough & Scary Job

As my due date comes closer I have become acutely aware of the parenting responsibilities that lay ahead for my husband and I. Naturally we considered this before making the decision to become parents, but it seems to weigh heavier on the mind as it becomes more real. As exciting as it is to become a parent I have also found myself terrified that we will mess up and not raise our child the way that we hope to. I worry over the basic things such as her growth and development. I have become anxious over balancing our lives; careers, babysitting, and finances.
I also find myself wondering exactly how to instill morals, values, and integrity. I ponder how to go about raising her to make good decisions and to avoid peer pressure. I want her to have an excellent education and to achieve not only academically, but also in extracurricular activities. I pray that she will become a good, independent, strong, kind-hearted, and responsible individual. It is constantly on my mind that essentially parents are raising their children to become functioning adults and what a tremendous responsibility that is. Now I know why my Mom use to say that she wished we were born with handbooks!
